3/29/22: Two Brooks Preserve Opening in May

Plympton’s Conservation Commission is happy announce that the Town’s new Two Brooks Preserve will soon be open. A band of hearty volunteers have been working tirelessly during the fall and winter months clearing trails, building boardwalks and installing a secondary parking lot on Prospect Road to ready the Preserve for public use.

The Preserve’s opening is planned for mid- May. Due to the small size of the new Prospect Road parking lot, which can hold about 7 cars, no opening event is planned for this summer. However, during 2023, a larger parking lot, which can accommodate school buses and horse trailers, will be created off Soule Street in Middleboro. Trails from there will lead to both the Two Brooks Preserve and the Soule Homestead Education Center, creating access to almost 300 acres of old bogs, forests, brooks and working farmland. A 2023 celebration of this wonderful new area, and of this new partnership between Plympton and Middleboro, will be held when all preparations are completed.

In order to protect the Preserve’s outstanding natural resources, including its significant groundwater, motorized vehicles and bicycles will not be permitted, and dogs must be leashed. The private dirt road adjacent to the Preserve is only for abutters and Town vehicles.

The Commission and the Open Space Committee look forward to welcoming everyone to this beautiful area in the Winnetuxet River Watershed. Watch for a notice in the paper and on this webpage for the opening dates in May.
