Wright's Stories and History

Eugene Wright (1890 - 1973) was born in Whitman and moved to Plympton as a young boy. He was raised in Plympton and after attending both the Brockton Business School and the Bridgewater Teacher 's College taught for over 40 years in the Massachusetts public schools. After retiring he devoted much of his time to his farm on Maple Street in Plympton and his weekly column in the Silver Lake News. He was a descendant of Adam Wright, one of the earliest Plympton settlers.

Eugene Wright's Tales of Old Plympton Volume 1 & 2

A collection of Eugene Wright's stories originally published in his weekly column in the Silver Lake News for over 18 years, with the last story appearing in 1973. The collections were published by the Plympton Historical Society in 1977 and 1981, respectively. While the first Volume is currently out of print, the second volume is available for purchase from the Plympton Historical Society, 781-585-9648.

**NEW** In the spring of 2007, Plympton resident Alex Lloyd-Evans published a comprehensive index  (PDF, 114KB) to be used with the Volume 1 stories. The 14 page index includes cited references to people, places and events.

Eugene Wright's History of Plympton

Wright’s History is a collection of his research compiled over many decades and a lifetime of close contact with Plympton. Some of these items form the basis of stories found in Tales of Old Plympton.

The original document is a loose-leaf binder in the Plympton Historical Society collection, and was scanned by PHS volunteers. There are 100 distinct PDF files. A number of the files span multiple topics and can therefore be found under more than one header.
