Gypsy Moth Superintendent / Superintendent of Insect Control:
About
Currently, these positions do not have a budget. Issues that most frequently generate questions are; Mosquitoes, Gypsy Moths, Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, Spring & Fall Cankerworms and Winter Moth. Pests are controlled using a management strategy called Integrated Pest Management (IPM). IPM is an ecologically-based approach to pest control that links together several related components, including monitoring and scouting, biological controls, mechanical and/or other cultural practices, and pesticide applications. By combining a number of these different methods and practices, satisfactory pest control can be achieved with less impact on the environment. An IPM strategy is applicable to both agricultural and urban settings. TIMING IS CRUCIAL FOR EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF PESTS. Mosquito insect control is applied through the Plymouth County Mosquito Control, which is run by the County. Mosquitoes in Plymouth County (PCMCP), Massachusetts affect the public health and quality of life of both the residents and visitors to the county. PCMCP works hard to control mosquitoes and prevent the spread of diseases such as Eastern Equine Encephalitis and West Nile Virus. PCMCP will make mosquito control applications upon request. Gypsy Moth, Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, Spring & Fall Cankerworms, Winter Moth and other Insect & Disease issues can be addressed by contacting The Plympton Tree Warden/Gypsy Moth Superintendent / Superintendent of Insect Control, William Hayes. |
